The challenge
Our client was involved in the ‘Britain is Great’ campaign, aimed at promoting trade and enterprise growth between UK and China.
With the opportunity for transformational change, our client wanted to really raise the game and held strong ambitions for this campaign.
The plan was to showcase the cream of the crop of UK innovation, identify overlooked opportunities, and excite local government and businesses to drive innovation.
What did we do?
- We designed and facilitated a 3 day event in Shenzhen for an entire ecosystem – over 200 including the Heads of UK and China trade bodies, Shenzhen local government, UK and Chinese businesses in key sectors, the FCO and UK T&I
- Our aim was to forge strong relationships, identify new opportunities for innovation and spot areas which would benefit from collaboration
- We brought in external inspiration to excite the group and show what was possible
- We raised the bar in expectations, to push for better, more innovative ideas
- We enabled the participants to thoroughly explore all existing and new opportunities
What was the impact?
- Opened eyes to fresh, exciting and strategic opportunities – moving far beyond the scope of a typical trade mission
- Identified opportunities ranging from local government to company specific, from which a core list was chosen to take forward and built momentum to support these opportunities
- Identified and kick-started projects beneficial to both countries through trade, creating a culture and environment of innovation and growth across an entire ecosystem
- Developed a spirit of collaboration between two governments, forging a strong partnership
